Surgery
We have years of experience and specialised equipment required to operate successfully on even the smallest exotic pet. Our wide range of surgical procedures include trauma repair, orthopedic procedures, reproductive emergencies and diagnostic endoscopsy. we can also neuter or spey most small mammals,. Our patients are maintained on specialised low flow paediatric anaesthetic circuits and our staff are highly trained to ensure the best care for your pet.

Hospitalisation & Critical care
We have 5 critical care incubators with individually controlled and monitored temperature and humidity to tailor the care for your birds and exotics. As important as housing is the nutritional care for our patients. We are able to provide specialised critical care food to your bird or exotic pet to aide their medical treatment and recovery from ill health.

Diagnostic Services
A host of diagnostic services are available: on-site blood chemistry analysis with results available within 15 minutes, removing the need for waiting for many test results to be returned from off-site laboratories. We also offer faecal and urine examinations and aquarium water testing.
 
Dentistry for small mammals
Rabbits and rodents have very different teeth than dogs and cats and require veterinarians who understand their unique needs.  We have special equipment  and are skilled in managing malocclusion of the teeth as well as teeth abscesses, tooth root problems, and even extractions.  

Avian Sexing – DNA and Surgical
DNA testing is a safe and accurate way of testing your birds sex  when it is not possible  to establish the sex of  the bird by physical appearance. All that is required is a drop of blood or feather. We can usually take the blood during a scheduled appointment, however your bird may require a short anaesthetic . The result will be available within 10-14 days.

We are also able to sex your bird via keyhole surgery with our endoscopy unit. This has the advantage of giving an immediate result with very little chance of error (DNA sexing can occasionally be incorrect due to laboratory error).


Microchipping
Microchipping is designed to provide an effective means of reuniting owners with pets that have strayed.  It is the most infallible way of permanently identifying your pet.
The process involves inserting a small microchip under your pet's skin during a short anaesthetic where it stays safely for life. The microchip has it's own worldwide "unique" code number. When a scanner is passed over the area your pets unique number is shown. Your pets details are registered for life on an Australasian wide database.
