WELCOME TO VETS FOR PETS PUPPY SCHOOL!

Why are puppy classes important?

Puppy classes provide a safe environment where pups can successfully learn to interact with other people and dogs. They also provide important information with regard to living with a dog in your family.

How will my pup benefit?

Your puppy will benefit by having non-threatening and safe interactions with other dogs and people during its critical socialisation time. This period between 8-16 weeks is the most important in a pup’s life for establishing patterns that will carry it into adulthood, this includes fears, phobias and aggression.  The more varied successful stimuli the puppy is exposed to, the better socialized and well rounded the dog will be.

What will I get out it?

Besides doing some important bonding and strengthening your relationship with your puppy you will also gain valuable information not only on health care and training but also how to better communicate with your dog as well as how they communicate with you. You will also receive a puppy pack, informative handouts on subjects covered in the course as well as training tips, free treats and plenty of fun!

Who is the instructor?

Your instructor is an experienced vet nurse with a specific interest in dog behaviour. As well as having plenty of animals of her own – she regularly walks and works with client’s dogs.

How long is the course?

The course consists of 5 x 1 hour sessions once a week held on a Monday and
Wednesday at Royal Oak Veterinary Clinic (please contact reception on 09 630 7168 for details on upcoming classes). Please note that the first class is puppy free to ensure minimal stress for the dogs and owners during the "housekeeping" session
